Review PANERAI PAM 249

PAM 249 เป็นนาฬิกาหน้าตาแปลกตัวเลขครึ่งบนเป็นเลขโรมัน ครึ่งล่างเป็นเลขอารบิค แว๊บแรกที่เห็นรู้สึกว่ามันไม่สวยเลย แต่พอเห็นบ่อยเข้าก็เห็นว่ามันสวยดีเหมือนกัน ประกอบกับช่วงนี้เริ่มหายากซักนิด ก็เลยชักอยากได้ขึ้นมากระทันหัน ไปโพสต์เล่นๆว่าอยากได้ใน facebook ก็มีเพื่อนมาเสนอก็เลยไปรับมาอยู่ด้วยจนถึงทุกวันนี้ PAM 249 เป็นนาฬิกาที่ผมชอบมากเรือนหนึ่งเลย ทุกอย่างค่อนข้างลงตัว ใส่ไปไหนมาไหนมีคนทักบ่อยๆแม้เค้าจะไม่รู้จักยี่ห้อนี้ และมันก็ไม่ได้เขียนยี่ห้อไว้บนหน้าปัด PAM 249 มีคู่แฝดคือ PAM 262 ซึ่งสิ่งที่แตกต่างกันคือ PAM 249 ตัวเรือนเป็น Stainless Steel และหน้าปัดสีดำ ส่วน PAM 262 ตัวเรือนเป็น Platinum หน้าปัดสีน้ำตาลครับ

ประวัติ โดยย่อของ Panerai
สาเหตุ ที่ Panerai มีความดังจัดขนาดนี้ เค้าว่ากันว่าเป็นเพราะมันมีประวัติศาสตร์ที่ดี เราก็ลองมาดูประวัติเค้าสักนิด (ประวัติของ Panerai นี้ผมสรุปความมาจากหนังสือ PANERAI Style Book II ต้นฉบับภาษาญี่ปุ่น )


โฉมหน้า Giovanni Panerai ผู้ก่อตั้ง Panerai

ย้อน ไปในปี 1860 Giovanni Panerai (มีชีวิตอยู่ในช่วงปี 1825-1897) ได้สร้างร้านนาฬิกาขึ้นมาชื่อ Orologeria G.Panerai&Co.ในเมืองฟลอเรนซ์ประเทศอิตาลี โดย Giovanni นั้นถือว่าเป็นผู้ก่อตั้ง Panerai ขึ้นมา ถึงแม้ว่าขณะนั้นยังไม่มีนาฬิกาเป็นของตัวเอง นาฬิกาที่ขายอยู่ในร้านเป็นนาฬิกาชั้นนำจากสวิส และด้วยฝีมือในการซ่อมสร้างนาฬิกาของ Giovanni ทำให้ร้านเค้ามีชื่อเสียงมากในวงการนาฬิกาของอิตาลี ถึงขนาดสร้างเป็นโรงเรียนนาฬิกาแห่งแรกของฟลอเรนซ์เลยทีเดียว ซึ่งร้านนาฬิกาแห่งนี้ก็ตกทอดไปถึงลูกชายของเค้าชื่อว่า Leon Francesco แต่กว่าจะมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่กับร้านนาฬิกาแห่งนี้ก็ต้องใช้เวลา ประมาณ 30 ปี คือในปี 1890 ลูกชายของ ​Leon Francesco ซึ่งก็คือ Guido Panerai เปลี่ยนชื่อร้านเป็น Orologeria Svizzera และเค้ามองว่าถ้าอยากจะทำธุรกิจด้านนาฬิกานั้นต้องเป็นนาฬิกาจากสวิสเท่า นั้นจึงได้ทำการตลาดอย่างหนักหน่วง โดยติดต่อเป็นตัวแทนจำหน่ายนาฬิกายี่ห้อดังของสวิส ไม่ว่าจะเป็น Rolex, Vacheron, Longines, Patek Phillipe ด้วยชื่อเสียงที่สั่งสมมาของร้านในเรื่องฝีมือทำให้ร้าน Orologeria Svizzera ขายนาฬิกาดีเป็นเทน้ำเทท่า

จาก การเป็นนักธุรกิจที่ไม่หยุดยั้ง Guido จึงได้ทำการขยายกิจการไปทำอุปกรณ์ที่เกี่ยวกับเครื่องมือต่างๆที่เป็นกลไก เช่น เครื่องมือวัดความลึก เข็มทิศ ซึ่งก็นับเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนที่ทำให้ Panerai ได้มีคอนเนคชั่นกับกองทัพเรืออิตาลีที่เรียกว่า Marina Militare นั่นเอง และต่อมา PANERAI ก็ได้เป็นผู้จัดทำเครื่องมือเหล่านี้ส่งให้กับกองทัพเรืออย่างเป็นทางการ

ระหว่าง นั้นก็เกิดเหตุการณ์หลาย อย่างเช่น การย้ายร้านไปอยู่อีกถนนหนึ่ง ซึ่งก็ไม่น่าสนใจจำเท่าไหร่ มาดูเนื้อที่สำคัญๆดีกว่า คือในปี 1936 นั้นทางกองทัพเรืออยากได้นาฬิกาสำหรับนักประดาน้ำหรือมนุษย์กบ (frogman) ซึ่งนาฬิกานี้ต้องใช้งานได้จริงใต้น้ำ ก็คืออ่านเวลาได้จริงๆแม้ในที่ไม่มีแสง และกันน้ำได้ดีๆ ซึ่งก็มีนาฬิกาหลายยี่ห้อส่งเข้าไปทดสอบแต่ก็ไม่มีใครผ่านการทดสอบนั้น กองทัพเรือเลยขอให้ ทาง ​Panerai ทำนาฬิกาอย่างที่ต้องการหน่อย ซึ่ง Panerai ก็ได้สร้าง Radiomir รุ่นแรกออกมาคือรุ่น 3646 ซึ่งก็มีหลายรูปแบบ ซึ่งในรูปแบบหนึ่งก็มีหน้าตาดังในรูปนี้แหละครับ ซึ่งนาฬิการุ่นนี้ก็ผ่านการทดสอบทุกอย่างด้วยดี อย่างที่บอกไปแล้วว่า Panerai เค้าทำเครื่องมือเป็นหลักมาก่อน ดังนั้นนาฬิการุ่นนี้จึงใช้กลไกรวมทั้งเม็ดมะยมและฝาหลังจาก Rolex สำหรับ PAM 249 ที่อยู่ในรีวิวนี้ก็ทำขึ้นมาย้อนยุคไปถึง Radiomir รุ่นแรกนี้นั่นและ จำนวนผลิต 1936 เรือนก็มาจากปีที่ออกรุ่นนี้มาเป็นครั้งแรกนั่นเอง

จาก นั้นอีกสองปี ในปี 1938 Panerai ก็ได้ผลิตนาฬิกา Radiomir ส่งให้กองทัพเรืออิตาลีอย่างเป็นทางการ ซึ่งก็มีหน้าตาดังรูปข้างล่างนี้ ซึ่งมันก็เป็นตัวต้นแบบของ PAM 232 นั่นเอง (จะนำมารีวิวในคราวหน้า)

ปัจจุบัน Officine Panerai อยู่ภายใต้ Richmond Group และผลิตนาฬิกาปีนึงเพียงไม่มากรุ่นละไม่เกิน 3000 เรือน ซึ่งการผลิตจำนวนน้อยก็มีส่วนทำให้นาฬิกา Panerai แทบทุกรุ่นขายดีมากเพราะว่ามีจำนวนน้อยนั่นเอง
ก็ทราบประวัติคร่าวๆของ Panerai ไปแล้วนะครับ ต่อไปก็ไปดูส่วนประกอบของ PAM 249 ทีละส่วนกันเลยนะครับ

กระจกกันหน้าปัด หรือ Crystal
เส้น ผ่านศูนย์กลางของกระจกประมาณ 42 mm เนื่องจาก PAM 249 นั้น PANERAI ได้สร้างขึ้นมาตามแบบของนาฬิกาในสมัยปี 1936 ดังนั้นเพื่อให้คงความดั้ง เดิมให้มากที่สุด PANERAI จึงได้เลือกใช้ plaxiglas ซึ่งเราจะรู้จักกันในอีกชื่อหนึ่งคือ อคลีลิค (acrylic) นั่นแหละครับ ในการปกป้องหน้าปัดจากฝุ่นผงต่างๆแทนการใช้ Sapphire Crystal เหมือนกับนาฬิกาชั้นดีทั่วๆไป ซึ่ง plexiglas นี้มีความหนาประมาณ 2mm เป็นโดมนูนออกมาอย่างเห็นได้ชัด โดยรวมแล้วก็ดูสวยงามโดดเด่นมาก แต่ข้อด้อยที่ชัดเจนของ plexiglas คือไม่ทนทานต่อการขูดขีด เพราะเพียงมีฝุ่นเกาะบน crystal แล้วเราเผลอเอาผ้าไปเช็ดหรือเอามือไปลูบ มันก็ทำให้เกิดรอยขนแมวได้ทันทีเลยครับ ด้วยเหตุนี้ PAM 249 จึงมาพร้อมกับ plexiglas crystal สำรองอีกหนึ่งอัน
อย่างไรก็ตามการใช้ plexiglas ก็ทำให้ PAM 249 มีความพิเศษขึ้นไปอีก เพราะว่าเป็น PANERAI รุ่นปัจจุบันเพียงรุ่นเดียวที่ใช้ plexiglas ซึ่งรุ่นอื่นๆจะเป็น Sapphire Crystal กันทั้งนั้น

หน้า ปัดแและเข็ม Dial and Hands
จุด เด่นที่สำคัญของ PAM249 คือหน้าปัดที่เรียกกันว่า California Dial ซึ่งเท่าที่ค้นดูที่ชื่อแบบนี้ก็เพราะว่าโรงงานแรกสุดที่ทำหน้าปัดแบบนี้ ตั้งอยู่ใน California หน้าปัดแบบนี้จะใช้เลขโรมันในครึ่งบนของหน้าปัด และ เลขอารบิคในครึ่งล่างของหน้าปัด ไม่มียี่ห้อบนหน้าปัด พรายน้ำบนหน้าปัดเป็นแบบ paint คือการแต้ม Luminova ลงบนหน้าปัดด้วยมือ แล้วเข้าเตาอบ ผลออกมาจึงไม่เนียนเหมือนกับที่ใช้เครื่องพิมพ์เหมือนนาฬิกาบางยี่ห้อ สีของพรายน้ำจะออกเป็น
สีออกเหลืองเลียนแบบนาฬิกาเก่า แต่พอสว่างจะเป็นสีเขียวสว่างสดใส ส่วนเข็มเป็นสีน้ำเงิน ซึ่งเห็นตอนแรกดูงานไม่ค่อยดี แต่พอลองส่องใกล้ๆดูแล้วเห็นได้ว่ามันเป็นสีน้ำเงินเงาสวยมาก พรายน้ำบนเข็มสีเดียวกับบนหน้าปัดดูแล้วกลมกลืนดี หน้าปัดมีสีดำและมีขีดแบ่งย่อย 60 ขีด เพื่อให้อ่านค่านาทีได้ใกล้เคียงมากขึ้น

ตัวเรือน Case
ตัว เรือนทรงหมอนสี่เหลี่ยมหรือที่เรียกว่า Cushion Shape มีขนาดกว้าง-ยาว ประมาณ 47x47 mm (ไม่ได้วัดละเอียดกลัวเครื่องมือไปโดนตัวเรือนแล้วจะเป็นรอย) ส่วนที่เป็นโลหะทั้งหมดสร้างขึ้นจาก Stainless Steel 316L ขัดเงา สลักคำว่า PANERAI ไว้ที่ระหว่างขาของตัวเรือนตำแหน่ง 6 นาฬิกา ส่วนที่ตำแหน่ง 12 นาฬิกา สลักคำว่า OPUS FACERE ซึ่งเป็นภาษาลาติน ของคำว่า OFFICINE งานสลักตัวอักษรคมชัดดีมาก การที่มีสลักยี่ห้อไว้ที่ตัวเรือนก็นับเป็นจุดพิเศษของ PAM 249 อีกจุดหนึ่ง ซึ่งผมก็ไม่อาจทราบได้ว่าเป็นจุดที่นักสะสมมองกันหรือเปล่าแต่ผมคิดว่ามัน แปลกดี ดูไม่เหมือนนาฬิการาคาแพงอื่นๆที่ปะยี่ห้อหราแสดงถึงความมียี่ห้อของตัวเอง

เม็ด มะยม Crown
เม็ด มะยมเป็นแบบขันเกลียวแต่ก็ไม่ได้เสริมการกันน้ำเท่าไหร่ เพราะรุ่นนี้กันน้ำได้เพียง 30m เท่านั้น เม็ดมะยมรุ่นนี้ก็มีความพิเศษต่างจาก Panerai Radiomir รุ่นอื่นๆ ตรงที่ด้านหัวสลักเป็นตัวอักษร OP แทนที่จะเป็นรูป Logo ซึ่งผมก็ไม่แน่ใจเหมือนกันว่ามีกี่รุ่นที่มีเม็ดมะยมเป็น OP แบบนี้ เพราะเคยเห็นแบบ OP ในรุ่นเก่าๆ แต่รุ่นใหม่ๆจะเป็น logo ทั้งหมด

ขานาฬิกา Lugs
ใน รุ่นดั้งเดิมสมัยอดีตนั้นขาสายจะเชื่อมติดกับ ตัวเรือนนาฬิกาเลย ทำให้ต้องใช้สายแบบเปิดปลายหรือ Opened End Strap แล้วให้ช่างเย็บสายเข้ากับตัวเรือนเลย นับว่าเป็นความยุ่งยาก พอควรในการจะเปลี่ยนสายแต่ละครั้ง สำหรับใน PAM 249 นี้ เราสามารถถอดเปลี่ยนสายเองได้โดยง่ายเพียงขันสกรู 4 ตัวที่ยืดขาสายออกจากตัวเรือน

กลไก Movement
PAM 249 ใช้กลไกมาตรฐานรุ่น OP X ของ PANERAI ซึ่งมีใช้ในรุ่นปกติทั่วไป เป็นกลไกที่ดัดแปลงจาก Unitas 6497 โดยตัดสะพานจักรเป็นรูปร่างเฉพาะของ PANERAI และเพิ่มพลังงานสำรอง เป็น 56 ชั่วโมง Unitas นั้นเป็นกลไกที่น่าเชื่อถือ เท่าที่สัมผัสมาในหลายๆยี่ห้อ ไม่ค่อยมีปัญหาอะไร อีกอย่างนาฬิการุ่นนี้ไม่มีเข็มวินาที ดังนั้นความผิดพลาดวันหนึ่งก็มองไม่ค่อยชัดครับ

ฝา หลังเปลือยเผยให้เห็นกลไกที่อยู่ภายใน มีการสลัก OFFICINE PANERAI และ BREVETTATO อันหมายถึง Patented หรือ จดสิทธิบัตรไว้แล้ว) และหมายเลขlimited */1936 มีสัญลักษณ์รูปปลา ตามด้วย 30m ซึ่งมีความหมายว่ากันน้ำได้ 30m


ด้านหลังสวยงาม

สายหนัง Strap
PAM 249 มาพร้อมสายหนังวัวสีแทน (TAN) ขนาด 26x24mm พร้อม buckle แบบหางปลาวาฬขนาด 24mm เย็บติดมาเลย สายนี้ใช้ไปก็จะมีรอยดำตรงที่ buckle รัดสาย แต่ก็นับว่าเป็นสายที่สวยและหนังก็ดีมากเลย แต่ตามประเพณีของนักเล่น Panerai คือสายเส้นเดียวไม่เคยพอ ดังนั้นก็ต้องหาสายที่ชอบมาเปลี่ยนใส่กันได้ตามแต่ใครจะชอบแบบไหน PAM 249 ไม่ได้แถมไขควงสำหรับเปลี่ยนสายมาด้วย ถ้าจะเปลี่ยนสายก็ใช้ไขควงปากแบนขนาด 1.4mm หรือ 1.6mm ก็ได้ในการไขสกรูที่ยึดขานาฬิกาทั้งสี่ตัวออกมา เนื่องจากระยะระหว่างตัวเรือนกับขาสายค่อนข้างแคบ ดังนั้นสายที่จะใส่แล้วไม่เบียดกับตัวเรือน ต้องมีความหนาที่หัวสายไม่มาก สายทั่วๆไปที่ลองเอามาใส่มักจะเบียดตัวเรือนและอาจจะฝากร่องรอยกับตัวเรือน ได้ ก็ต้องเลือกดูดีๆครับ สายของ PANERAI เองจะทำส่วนนี้บางทำให้ใส่สายแล้วไม่เบียดตัวเรือนครับ และเนื่องจาก buckle เย็บติดมาเลย ดังนั้นเมื่อเปลี่ยนสายก็ต้องหาหัว buckle ขนาดที่เหมาะกับสายด้วย เช่นสาย 26x24 ก็ต้องใช้หัวเข็มขัดขนาด 24mm หรือถ้าเป็นสาย 26x26 ก็ต้องใช้หัวเข็มขัดขนาด 26mm

ก็ เหมือนกับรุ่น Special Edition อื่นๆของ Panerai ซึ่งจะมาพร้อมกล่องขนาดใหญ่พิเศษ จากรูปจะเห็นว่าใหญ่กว่ากล่องของรุ่นปกติอยู่พอสมควรเลยครับ กล่องนี้มาพร้อมกุญแจล๊อคด้วย คงทำไว้เท่ห์ๆแหละ เพราะคงไม่มีใครล๊อคกล่องหรอกมั้ง เกิดกุญแจหายขึ้นมาจะยุ่งเปล่าๆ ภายในกล่องมีหนังสือประวัติของ PANERAI และ ใบประกัน

สรุป
ส่วน ตัวแล้วชอบนาฬิกาเรือนนี้มากแต่ไม่ได้นำมาใช้บ่อยนักก็เพราะว่ากระจกที่ เป็น Plexiglas นั้นเป็นรอยง่ายมาก และยิ่งนูนออกมามากด้วยแล้วยิ่งดึงดูดรอยขนแมวได้เป็นอย่างดี เพียงแค่โดนปลายแขนเสื้อก็อาจจะเป็นรอยได้ (ไม่รู้กลัวเกินเหตุหรือเปล่า) ความมีเอกลักษณ์ของ PAM 249 นั้นไม่เป็นรองใครด้วยหน้าปัด California อันเป็นจุดเด่นของรุ่นนี้ทำให้มันมีความแปลกพอที่จะดึงความสนใจจากคนทั่วไป ที่ไม่ได้สนใจนาฬิกาได้เป็นอย่างดี ดังนั้นสำหรับท่านที่มองหา Panerai สักเรือนเพื่อการสะสมโดยเน้นเรื่องความมีประวัติศาสตร์เป็นพิเศษและแฝงกลิ่น อายของ Vintage Panerai แต่เป็นนาฬิกาใหม่ที่สามารถเชื่อถือใส่ใช้งานได้จริงๆแล้ว PAM 249 ก็เป็นตัวเลือกที่ไม่ควรมองข้ามครับ ด้วยจำนวนผลิตที่จำกัดเพียง 1936 เรือนเท่านั้น ก็อาจจะต้องใช้เวลาตามหาบ้าง แต่ก็ไม่ได้หายากมากนักเพราะก็ยังเห็นมีคนขายอยู่บ่อยๆครับ

ริวิว Seiko Prospex Scuba SBDC001 หรือ SUMO

Seiko มีชื่อเสียงในเรื่องของนาฬิกาที่ทนทานคุ้มค่าราคามาก โดยเฉพาะรุ่นที่เป็น Diver Watch นั้นได้รับความนิยมในหมู่คนสะสมนาฬิกา Seiko เป็นอย่างดี ทั้งนี้เพราะราคาไม่แพงและกันน้ำได้ลึก ช่วงไม่กี่ปีมานี้ Seiko Monster นับเป็นตัวแทนนาฬิกาดำน้ำที่โดดเด่นมากซึ่งนักเล่นจะต้องไปหาเก็บเอาไว้ใน กรุส่วนตัวกันแทบทุกคน แต่ด้วยกลไกของ Seiko ตระกูล Monster และตระกูล Diver ทั่วไป (เช่น SKX007K) นั้นจะใช้กลไกตระกูล 7s ซึ่งมีปัญหาอยู่สองประการคือ ไม่สามารถขึ้นลานด้วยมือได้ และ เข็มวินาทีไม่หยุดเมื่อดึงเม็ดมะยมออกมาตั้งเวลา (หรือที่เรียกกันว่า กลไกแบบไม่ Hack ) ดังนั้นนักเล่นจึงไฝ่ฝันอยากได้นาฬิกาดำน้ำของ Seiko ที่ไม่มีข้อด้อยสองข้อนั้น ซึ่ง Seiko ก็ออกนาฬิการุ่น SBDX001 Marinemaster ใช้กลไก 8L35 ( ซึ่งก็คือกลไก 9S55 ของ Grand Seiko ที่ไม่ได้ขัดและปรับแต่ง) แต่ก็มีราคาสูง ประมาณ60,000 บาทและหาซื้อยาก จึงทำให้นักเล่นส่วนใหญ่ยังรอรุ่นราคากลางๆระหว่าง Monster กับ Marinemaster ซึ่งก็มีข่าวดีเมื่อ Seiko ออกรุ่น SUMO (ชื่อเล่นที่นักเล่นเรียกกัน) ใช้กลไก 6R15 และหน้าตาดุดันพอๆหรือมากกว่า Marinemaster ซึ่งได้ได้ผลตอบรับที่ดีมาก ทีนี้เรามาดูรายละเอียดของนาฬิการุ่นนี้กันครับ

เมื่อ ได้จับ Seiko Sumo ครั้งแรก รู้สึกได้ถึงความหนักแน่น ตัวเรือนทำได้ดีมากไม่แพ้ Marinemaster เลย ขนาดที่ใหญ่ถึง 45mm ทำให้ดูโดดเด่นมากบนข้อมือ คนที่ชอบนาฬิกาใหญ่ๆไม่น่าพลาดตัวนี้ หน้าปัดและเข็มทำด้วยความประณีตระดับหนึ่งเลย และตามแบบฉบับของนาฬิกาดำน้ำคือต้องมีพรายน้ำสว่างๆ พรายน้ำ LumiBrite ของ SUMO มีความสว่างมากๆในที่มีแสงน้อยใส่เข้าไปในโรงหนังนี่สว่างโร่เลยแหละครับ และด้วยกลไกที่มีระดับทำให้คนที่ชอบเรื่องของกลไกก็ต้องชอบเรือนนี้้ด้วย แน่ๆ แต่อย่างไรก็ตามนาฬิกา Seiko Sumo นั้นค่อนข้างจะหายาก เท่าที่ทราบคือเป็นนาฬิกาที่ผลิตขายในประเทศญี่ปุ่นเท่านั้น ดังนั้นในเมืองไทยไม่มีขายโดยทั่วไป เรือนที่รีวิวนี้ก็ซื้อมาจากญี่ปุ่นครับ ซึ่งที่ญี่ปุ่นเองก็ไม่ใช่จะหาซื้อง่ายๆครับ ไปตั้งหลายร้านกว่าจะซื้อได้ ด้วยราคาระดับประมาณสองหมื่นกว่าบาท คงหา Seiko Sport Diver ที่คุ้มราคามากกว่ารุ่นนี้ได้ยากครับ

Explorer-II review!!

The Rolex Explorer II was launched in 1971 primarily for the speleologists (cave explorers). This model features a fixed bezel engraved with 24-hour track and a special 24 hour hand (initially orange in color, now red) which together help to distinguish AM from PM. This feature has proved to be a boon fo cave explorers. They spend days together exploring deep caverns where daylight is nil. As a result, keeping track of the time becomes difficult. Rolex GMT-Master II, an improved version over the initial GMT-Master (introduced in 1954), was launched in 1983. This model is meant for the pilots who need to travel through multiple time zones. It features a special 24 hour hand and a bi-directional rotating bezel, designed to display the time of any two time zones simultaneously.

How does the Explorer II Resemble the GMT-Master II?

The 24-hour engraved bezel and the extra 24-hour hand in the Explorer II make it resemble the GMT-Master II. These features between the two enable them to display the time in two different time zones. In both the models, the 24-hour hand points to the 24-hour time represented on the bezel. For instance, if it is 7:00 AM, the 24-hour hand will point to 7 on the bezel. If it is 7:00 PM, it will point to 19 on the bezel. Another feature common to the two models is the "jump hour" feature. This feature allows the 12 hour hand to be set to a different time zone without adjusting the 24-hour hand and bezel. This is done by first unscrewing the winding crown and then slowly turning it clockwise or counterclockwise. This adjustment will result in jumping of the hour hand one hour at a time without stopping the minute and seconds hands. In addition, the independently adjustable 12-hour hand allows the wearer to simultaneously check the time in any two time zones.

The initial Rolex Explorer II model had the same caliber movement as that of the GMT-Master 1575.

Some other common in the two include the following:

What is the Difference Between the Two?

The major difference between the Explorer II and the GMT-Master II is that while the Explorer II features a fixed bezel, the GMT-Master II has a bi-directional rotating bezel.

The other areas where the two differ from each other are cosmetic in nature. While the Rolex Explorer II is available only in solid stainless steel, GMT-Master II is available in 18k yellow gold, white gold, stainless steel and in Rolesor (steel and gold). Also, there are many dial options available in the GMT-Master II, unlike the Explorer II, which is available in only black and white dials.

Panerai introduced its first dive watches in 1936 for use by special commando units of the Italian navy. These watches featured an unusual mechanism for sealing the crown, using a "protecting device." These dive watches are highly valued by collectors and are very scarce. In 1997, these famous dive watches were reintroduced by the Vendome Luxury Group, and they quickly become very popular. This Panerai Luminore (PAM 114) is in a 44mm x 14.8mm polished SS screw back case with sapphire display back, water resistant to 300 meters. It has a white dial with black Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds at nine. It is on a signed brown leather strap with tang type buckle. This watch is new and unworn, without a scratch or other flaw on the case or crystal. The well finished OP XI (base cal ETA 6497/2) 17 jewel manual winding movement maintains accurate time within a tolerance of three seconds per day. This unworn Panerai watch has a K serial number (2008 production) and it will be delivered in its original triple box set, jeweler's screwdriver, polishing cloth, signed rubber dive strap, bezel protector and all papers.

Submariner versus Sea Dweller

Both Models have a Rolex 3135 Movement. This movement is perfect for what it is supposed to be - a rock-solid, accurate mechanical movement with no complications (apart from date). Case, Crystal and Crown The case design is a classic dive watch look that Rolex invented.

The sapphire crystal appears to be tough and resilient but can get scratches and annoying pin size damage on the edges. Crown is large and extremely easy to use. Dial and Hands have Rolex Look. . Extremely easy to read both in the day and night. Accuracy About plus minus 3 to w sec per day. The oyster bracelet really suits this style of the watches. The bracelet feels solid and heavy - more so than other Rolex watches.

The Submariner is very comfortable, and is an all rounder watch. That is to say it can be worn for any occasion, casual wear , dress wear, or beach wear. A Long history of making divers watches shows in the Submariner which has now become synonymous with diving watches. Inscribed with the now famous "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified." The Cyclops over the date makes for easy reading.

The Sea dweller is also plenty comfortable, but due to it's size and weight one could probably say there are more comfortable watches out there. But after a few hours of wear one gets over the initial shock of its size and you don't think about it much any more.The Rolex Sea-Dweller, with a rotating bezel and black dial, is an attractive looking, easy to read, watch.

Manually winding this automatic watch feels like smooth silk as the movement employs a refined set of rocking bar gears, which mesh easily with the automatic system. The balance bridge is designed like a crossbar, held with two screws, and supported on two adjustable pillars for correction of endshake. In short, this is the kind of movement watchmakers, accustomed to servicing high-grade timepieces, are always proud to see. Waterproof to 4000feet/1220 meters! Sapphire crystal and safety bezel. The most rugged of all Rolex Watches and with much history behind it. This is a must-have Rolex for the sports watch fan.

Caution all Rolex lovers, unscrupulous people are taking advantage of the price difference between the GMT and the Explorer II Orange Hands, by converting the GMT into the Explorer II. Please be careful, check, check then double check.
